Town Center Development Woes
Las Vegas developers are making a push to develop more homes in communities in areas like Henderson and Summerlin. However city officials and residents in neighboring subdivision are worried about traffic and lost views. Officials have gone on the record to say any move to increase density will draw close scrutiny from the people. Developers want to introduce plans to develop 3,000 new condos and apartments. These would be built on a 300 acre mixed use development known as the Town Center.
This area is set to be the home of the casino and more than 1 million square feet of commercial retail and office space. The city originally adopted the development agreement with Focus limiting the housing to the 300 acre section with authorization to build only 3,000 Las Vegas condos. That number will double under the new revisions.
