MGM City Center Condos

The MGM City Center is now under construction on the Las Vegas strip in between the Bellagio and the Monte Carlo. This project is unlike any other building project in the Las Vegas area with a nickname of a city within a city. The project is estimated to cost around $7.4 billion with several of its own unique features that make it a city within a city including its own power plant and fire station.
Scheduled to open in late 2009, this 67 acre project is a world-class development.
The MGM City Center will encompass the Vdara Condo Hotel which has 22 floors completed, the VEER condos which has begun being built, the Mandarin Oriental penthouse condos has 10 floors completed, the Harmon Hotel has two floors completed, and a main hotel with 25 floors completed, and a casino. At the time of this writing, condos are still going fast with only a few left at the Mandarin, the Veer Towers has sold around half of the units, and the Vdara has sold around 700 units.
Features of the MGM City Center include 4,000 room in the 60-story CityCenter Resort and Casino known as the Cesar Pelli with 165,000 square feet for the casino floor, 400 room Mandarin, 400 room Harmon Hotel, 1500 unit Vdara Condo Tower, twin Veer Towers with 350 luxury condo units, 500,000 square feet of retail space and entertainment space, 225,000 square feet for conventions, 900,000 square feet for behind the scenes operations, a 2,000 seat theater, 70,000 square feet spa, 7,500 car parking garage, fire station, on site power plant, and trams for transportation. The trams will be dubbed people mover and will have three stops with a price tag of $150 million all alone.
The luxury condos at the Vdara were designed by RV Architecture and will be 50 stories high at completion with a total of 1543 units. The Veer Condos are built in a leaning style that allows awesome views from the various units. There will be a total of 674 units designed by Helmut Jahn. The Mandarin will have a total of 227 luxury condos at completion. The Harmon Hotel will offer a trendy new place to stay while in Las Vegas with 207 units. The main hotel will have 60 stories for the hotel including a convention center and casino.
The MGM City Center has high hopes of attaining the Silver LEED certification for sustainable living. The entire project should be completed by the end of 2009.
