There are almost 8,000 new residents a month moving in the Las Vegas area. Job growth has increased by nearly 6 percent and with Las Vegas tourism numbers continuing to grow the local economy is trudging through a downturn in the local housing market.
The Southern Nevada Index of Leading Economic Indicators moved modestly upward to 132.59 in October.
According to the University of Nevada Las Vegas research center this number is a big increase from the previous month and an increase from October 2005.
Non-construction sectors have continued to run strong despite a negative impact to the index from residential components.
