Indianapolis is in a similar situation. We really have been able to negotiate great leases the past few years on new office space. Although residential real estate over the last few years has been challenging, I am glad we are not trying to lease out space.

I have a bad feeling that things aren’t going to change any time soon. Vacancies and derlict land all over the palce are never a good sign. The banks won’t lend so the flow of captial dries up and work grinds to a halt.

A year later and the vacancies are still there. Its not going to turn around until unemployment drops back down to normal levels. There are still thousands of people out there that want to work but are going to lose their home because they can’t find a job.

The real estate market is up now. The vacancies will occur and will fill up soon as because people are locating homes for their business and job needs also the property rate is less in 2010 than 2009.

I agree with your amazement that commercial construction continues to take place. It certainly doesn’t seem like a wise investment in this environment. I’m also surprised that new home builders continue to put up homes.

The residential market has been ok at best in Texas, however the commercial real estate market is awful! There are a lot of great investment opportunities, however hardly anyone has the resources to capitalize on them.
