By The Numbers
It is no secret that there have been some slumps in the housing market across the United States.
According to a nationwide poll taken by the Pew Research Center, homeowners are looking past the dreary numbers and are optimistic about the value of their properties.
The poll shows that there are approximately 55% of homeowners who expect their homes to appreciate in value slightly. 26% said that they expected to see high values for their homes.
The poll also showed that 75% of those polled say the recent increase in their home values have had little or no effect on their personal finances.
Nearly 35% of home owners say their homes are what account for most of their personal financial worth, while about the same percentage says that their homes represent only half their worth.
Nearly 75% of home owners are paying a mortgage, with 20 percent carrying either a second mortgage or a home equity loan.
