Missing Las Vegas

As many of you know, my wife and I had to return to Missouri to deal with a family illness.

While we called Missouri home for many years, we find ourselves missing Las Vegas terribly.

In our absence, our new partner is holding down the fort and taking care of our Las Vegas real Estate clients.

The difference between the Las Vegas real estate market and the Missouri real estate market is as drastic as night and day.

Homes in Missouri that would cost $150,000. could easily go for $350,000. in Las Vegas. Homes in Las Vegas can me on the market for less than 30 days while a comparable rural home in Missouri might be on the market for as much as 6 months.

At any rate, we hope to be back home in Las Vegas in the near future and thank all our friends and clients for their support.

The good news is some of the builders are giving the option of a solar dish. This “dish” does not power the house but feeds the Nevada Power Grid. The power company then pays the owner by reducing the normal power bill by the amount of power generated by the dish. In the summer “hot” months a two unit a/c power bill can easily run $400 dollars a month or more. With a solar dish the cost is averages about $38 dollars for the same power consumption.

This was a great deal until the HOA wanted to stick it to the owners by charging outragous HOA fees in areas where they have this option.

One HOA is charging 714 dollars a month. Of course they pay for the care of your lawn in the front yard along with the water, sewer and power. Extra usage beyond the norm will raise your HOA fee the following year if not careful using the power and water.

Now HOAs think they are the power company.

This was a great idea until the HOA’s got involved.
